High Performance Architecture with Open-E JovianDSS and VMware ESXi
The OpenStor JovianDSS Metro Cluster hyperconverged system consists of two OpenStor Storage Servers (2U) interconnected with high-speed, low-latency 40GbE Lan card.
Both OpenStor Storage Servers run VMware ESXi virtualization software and host an Open-E JovianDSS Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA).
High Data Availability, Guaranteed Synchronization and Business Continuity
Thanks to the Advance HA METRO CLUSTER service with Automatic Failover, both Storage Servers are connected to each other in “mirroring,” synchronous mode, so that every write made to the first Storage also occurs simultaneously on the second, and vice versa.
In the event of a failure of one of the Storage, the Automatic Failover service automatically intervenes to allow the second running system to instantly publish volumes (iSCSI or NFS) without interruption, thus ensuring high data availability.
In addition, depending on the VMware license used, high availability (HA) of VMs can be guaranteed.
Snapshot Management and Off-Site Data Protection with JovianDSS
With the OpenStor JovianDSS hyperconverged system, it is possible to schedule an unlimited number of snapshots, even every minute, and synchronize them on the secondary Storage Server having JovianDSS for ODPS, thanks to the integrated Off-Site Data Protection service.
JovianDSS for ODPS secondary storage can instantly make a volume available from one of thousands of snapshots up to the previous minute and publish it to VMware nodes via 10GbE iSCSI ports.
Open-E JovianDSS
Open-E JovianDSS is a ZFS and Linux-based data storage software specially designed to meet the needs of modern storage environments.
Dedicated data protection features allow users to quickly perform backups and related restores in case of any unforeseen event, without the need for additional third-party tools.
On the OpenStor JovianDSS hyperconverged system, the software is already installed and configured.
