The OpenStor JovianDSS Metro Cluster hyperconverged system consists of two interconnected OpenStor Storage Servers (2U) with a high-speed, low-latency 40GbE LAN card.
Both OpenStor Storage Servers run VMware ESXi virtualization software and host an Open-E JovianDSS Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA).
OpenStor JVD comes with JovianDSS software and requires a VMware license as the virtualizer.
OpenStor JPD comes with JovianDSS software and Proxmox for virtualization.
High availability of data, guaranteed synchronization, and Business Continuity
Thanks to the Advanced HA METRO CLUSTER with Automatic Failover service, both Storage Servers are connected in “mirroring” mode, synchronously, ensuring that every write operation performed on the first Storage occurs simultaneously on the second, and vice versa.
In the event of a failure of one of the Storage, the Automatic Failover service automatically intervenes to allow the second running system to instantly publish volumes (iSCSI or NFS) without interruption, thus ensuring high data availability.
In addition, depending on the VMware license used, high availability (HA) of VMs can be guaranteed.

The platform supports dual-CPU configurations with independent sockets, complemented by a wide availability of DDR4/DDR5 DIMM slots to maximize memory capacity and bandwidth.

The optimized motherboard layout offers PCIe expansion connectors, integrated controllers, and organized cabling for power and storage.

Snapshot management and off-site data protection thanks to JovianDSS
With the OpenStor JVD and JPD hyperconverged system, it’s possible to schedule an unlimited number of snapshots, even every minute, and synchronize them to the secondary Storage Server with JovianDSS for ODPS, thanks to the integrated Off-Site Data Protection service.
The secondary JovianDSS for ODPS storage can instantly make a volume available from one of thousands of snapshots up to the previous minute and publish it to VMware nodes via 10GbE iSCSI ports.
Open-E JovianDSS
Open-E JovianDSS is a ZFS and Linux-based data storage software specially designed to meet the needs of modern storage environments.
Dedicated data protection features allow users to quickly perform backups and related restores in case of any unforeseen event, without the need for additional third-party tools.
On the OpenStor JovianDSS hyperconverged system, the software is already installed and configured.
